Shout-outs

We aren't the only ones trying to make Seattle a better place to start a company....

John Cook's Venture Blog - John is easily the best local reporter on startups and early-stage investing, and his blog is a must-read for anyone who's interested in the Seattle startup scene

SeattleTechStartups- Chuck Groom and Gaurav Oberoi, founders of BillMonk.com, are also the organizers and behind this open-source community of local entrepreneurs. Their monthly meetings and maillist are hands-down the way to connect with other early-stage founders in the Seattle area.

Seattle 2.0 - Marcelo Calbucci, Founder & CTO of Sampa, has become the unofficial insider journalist of the Seattle startup scene via his blog, local startup directory and job board.

Founded in 1985, NWEN is the grandaddy of the local startup scene and a terrific resource for all kinds of support.

Even though they aren't based in Seattle, if you want your startup to succeed you should also pay close attention to...

Brad Feld - Brad's an entrepreneur-turned-VC (first at Mobius, now at his own Foundry Group) who's so busy thinking and writing about the future of technology and the business of investing that you'd swear he never sleeps.

Fred Wilson - Fred is a lot like Brad (in fact, they're friends and co-investors on several deals). He's based in New York and covers a (mostly) different set of themes, but he's just as thoughtful, candid and articulate.

Marc Andreesen - You'd think inventing Mosaic and cofounding Nestcape would be enough, but Marc is also a brilliant and articulate analyst of what it takes to start and grow a technology-based business.

Mike Arrington - Love him or hate him, Mike's TechCrunch blog is the Wall Street Journal for tech entrepreneurs.
